Dear Friends:
Recently we received an e-mail from an Assistant Professor at the famous John Hopkins Medical School. He was writing an article for Psychology Today, and would like an interview. In his own words, “the article is about people who perceive or discover conspiracies. The assumption is that this is a unique style of thinking that has value for society, even if it can go awry. I would be grateful if you would consider talking to me...”
Was not this a great opportunity to help “spread the word” far and wide — a chance to share with many of the nation’s leading “shrinks” the powerful and ultimately indisputable documentation regarding the existence of a diabolical plot to bring all the nations of the world to their collective knees — politically, economically, socially, and spiritually — in order to merge them into a collectivist concentration camp euphemistically termed the New World Order?
Had this writer been “born yesterday” (or even last week) such thoughts would no doubt have immediately sprung to the forefront of his mind. Thankfully, he was born almost 76 years ago and, as a result, has been “around the block” a few times more than most people.
Having graduated with honors from various “schools of hard knocks” in four different countries — Ireland, England, Canada, and the United States — he has learned a few lessons along the way. One is that, when one lives in a jungle — whether literal or figurative — one needs “jungle eyes” in order to survive. For those with “eyes to see and ears to hear,” personal experiences — coupled with the experiences of others — should serve as warning beacons. One either learns from their own experiences — and those of others — or they continue to stumble and bumble their way through this frustrating pilgrimage called “life.”
[More on that interview request a little later!]
As Bernard Baruch observed in his autobiography, “Whatever failures I have known, whatever errors I have committed, whatever follies I have witnessed in private and public life, have been the consequence of action without thought... There is madness in crowds ... stupidity and cruelty are the attributes of the mob, not wisdom and compassion.” The “herd instinct” (the innate, natural desire to follow the crowd) with which we are all afflicted to one degree or another, can have bitter consequences. History is replete with examples of people who, perhaps in a moment of weakness, “joined the herd” and ended up being stampeded over a cliff to their doom.
Remember, one sign of insanity is making the same mistake again and again, while expecting a different result each time. (By that criterion, most people are “insane” to one degree or another). Was it not philosopher George Santayana who declared that, “Those who cannot remember ... past (experiences) are doomed to repeat them.”
On the other hand, of course, being human we are all prone to make mistakes. Being “sincere” when making a decision or statement is not necessarily proof of its accuracy. As mortals, we can be both sincere and sincerely wrong at the same time. It is thus important that, as Paul Harvey used to say, we hear “the rest of the story.“ There are always two (or more!) sides to every story. As king Solomon observed, “He that is first in his own cause, seems right; but his neighbor comes and searches him” (Proverbs 18:17). A good rule to acknowledge and follow!
In the final analysis, as we go through life we should never forget that, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches” (Proverbs 22:1). Our “reputation” — whether good or bad — truly follows us through life!
"PERSONAL “EDUCATION”
This writer’s “education” about the mass media began while living near London, England, area some 46 years ago. At that time he was associated with a religious group that was very active in broadcasting and publishing in the British Isles and Europe. Naturally, their activities attracted the attention of the media. The News of the World, Britain’s largest selling Sunday paper, assigned a reporter the responsibility of writing an in-depth story on the group.
Just before this writer left Britain for the United States, the paper ran a rather sensational story. It was splashed across a couple of pages. Part of the article featured an “interview” with an individual with whom he was closely acquainted. The reporter had asked him various questions about his life, his ambitions, his membership in the group, and his overall view of the world situation that existed in the early 60s. Although not present during the interview, this writer believes the answers his friend gave were honest and straight-forward. There was no logical reason for them to be otherwise. Only one “catch.” The reporter involved deliberately and maliciously misquoted him, using and abusing his answers to some of the questions. The responses he gave to some questions were represented as his answers to other questions. This tactic was used repeatedly. The alleged “answers” or “statements” were thus used completely out of context, and showed him and the group in the worst possible light. So much for the “intellectual integrity” of a leading newspaper.
The same method of “reporting” was shortly shown to exist in the United States. A few years after bringing out Fourth Reich of the Rich (The Missing Dimension In World Affairs) in 1976, we received a request for an interview from a reporter with the now defunct Minneapolis Star. As the newsman was in the Los Angeles area, we arranged to pick him up and bring him to a public meeting being held near Burbank Airport. As we drove to the meeting from Pasadena, where we then lived, the reporter peppered me with a wide variety of questions. Also, during the meeting which probably lasted two hours, he continuously made notes on what the various speakers were documenting. Most were demonstrating the historical accuracy of some of the points made in Fourth Reich.
Later, in 1983, we received a copy of his finished book, titled Architects of Fear. Published by Tarcher, Los Angeles, the book was promoted as the work of an investigative reporter who had “tracked down America’s leading political paranoids.” In most respects, it was a smear job. It barely made reference to any of the indisputable historical facts brought out in either Fourth Reich or by the speakers at the meeting. Everyone involved was basically portrayed as “wild conspiracy theorists” who were obviously “off the wall and out to lunch.” After all, how could such obscene, paranoid tales possibly be true in the land of the free and home of the brave? The idea that America was being deliberately betrayed and sold down the river by the powers-that-be in Washington was so outlandish as to be demoniacal idiocy. Obviously, we were all a bunch of deluded “political nuts” living in our own paranoid worlds of fantasy and make-believe.
If one may be called “paranoid” and “delusional” for researching, documenting, and writing about political and economic reality, this writer certainly pleads guilty. He is perfectly satisfied to let readers judge for themselves whether or not all his books and articles over the last 34 years have been remarkably accurate — or just paranoid and delusional.
So much for honest research and ultimately irrefutable historical and political fact!
CHANNEL 6 CALLING
By the early 1990s we had learned another lesson: Beware of anyone who wants to write about you in the paper or interview us for a television “news” program. One Sunday morning toward the end of 1991, my phone rang. On the line was a very irate Jewish lady who lived in Portland. Refusing to give me her name, she said she was very annoyed by the fact that someone had left a copy of Midnight Messenger in her mail box. She declared that she found the paper both “anti-Semitic” and “racist” (it carried ads for the book, Israel: Our Duty, Our Dilemma, and the video, The Other Israel). When asked politely to point out anything that might rightly be described in those terms, the lady ignored the question, and declared that there were “hate laws against such publications.” She also stated she was going to report it to “the TV News.”
The nameless lady was true to her word. Shortly thereafter, the phone rang again. This time it was Brianna Clark, a reporter from a Portland television station, KOIN-TV (Channel 6, a CBS affiliate). Brianna’s station had received a call from the nameless lady. Ms. Clark said her station was doing a segment on Midnight Messenger for the 5 o’clock news. She requested on “on camera interview.” We declined the offer, explaining that past experience had clearly shown that the most relevant parts of such “on camera interviews” were inevitably edited out, while other segments were carefully edited, taken out of context, and strung together in such a manner as to make the interviewee appear in the worst possible light. We didn’t want any part of that! Our immediate offer to do a live on-air interview on the 5 o’clock news was totally unacceptable.
Over the next few hours, Brianna called back on at least three more occasions. A mobile news crew wanted to come to my home for an interview. Unacceptable! Again, we offered to personally drive to their TV studio, less than 40 miles away, for an on-air interview. No way! As news time rolled around, we wondered how this CBS affiliate would handle the situation. Eighteen minutes into the newscast, we got the answer. The news anchor, Ken Boddie (with a six-pointed star and the word “racism” as a backdrop), announced that Brianna Clark was about to report on “one woman who feels readers should be warned about what she thinks is a dangerous publication.” Clark identified the initially nameless caller as April Henry. Henry declares, “It doesn’t have big headlines, like ‘kill the Jews,’ It doesn’t seem as violent ... but when you start looking through it there is a sort of anger toward anyone that they don’t feel is a white Christian.” Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing of that nature appeared or appears in Midnight Messenger. Next, Brianna Clark spoke with Joan Weil (the name Weil is an Jewish anagram for Levite), Director of the American Jewish Committee in Portland. In her lead-in, Clark quoted Weil as saying that she was “disturbed about the cleverly hidden racial slurs and anti-Semitism” allegedly in the paper. “There are citizens that might be tempted to throw away this type of newspaper, but she says we just shouldn’t stop there.”
[The “disturbing” part of the paper was probably ads for the DVD, The Other Israel, and the book, Israel: Our Duty: Our Dilemma. both produced by Ted Pike. Both are still available. See books and videos on page 6].
Then Ms. Weil came on to make the following statement: “They have laws on the books that prevent certain things from being distributed. We need to see that those laws are being enforced, and we need to see that if there are other laws that are necessary that those be put into effect as well.” The term “certain things” was, of course, never defined. Clark then quoted Weil as saying that “we also need to educate our children and let them know there is no place for bigotry in our society.” “Educate”? Undefined! “Bigotry”? Undefined!
Finally, there was a 23-second segment in which it was stated that “Mr. Griffin declined an on-camera interview.” [The fact that Mr. Griffin repeatedly volunteered to come to the station for an on-air interview on the 5 o’clock “News” was conveniently left out]. Clark did, however, quote us correctly as stating that the intent of Midnight Messenger is “to provide a different view. He also said he didn’t find anything in the current issue of Midnight Messenger [July/August, 1991, Issue #38] to be racist or anti-Semitic.”
Recognizing the historical fact that telling the Truth is always interpreted as “Hate” to those who hate the truth, we are always more than willing to participate in a totally open and above-board discussion or debate before a live audience on any of the subjects we write above either in Midnight Messenger and in this AlertNewsletter. Let the cameras roll and the recorders record. No editing allowed. Everything must by put on the public record. In the words of the Declaration of Independence, “let the Facts be submitted [in their entirety] to a candid world.”
As the Lord Jesus Christ stated so powerfully, “This is the condemnation, that truth is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds should be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” (John 3:19-21)
PROPAGANDA OR TRUTH?
Particularly when dealing with politicians and the media, we need to pay attention to a statement ascribed to Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Propaganda Minister: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic, and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
When applied to the history of the United States since the days of FDR, the accuracy of this observation comes into clear focus. Particularly over the last 50 years, charlatan politicians, in close cooperation with alleged media “experts” — and with the full backing of the politically controlled propaganda and brainwashing machines euphemistically called schools and colleges — have sold most Americans on the big LIE. That LIE is the hideously mistaken belief that Socialism (sold under such labels as Progressivism, Democracy, Liberalism, or just plain Statism, would lead to the creation of a Utopian Society. In the 1960s, Roosevelt’s “New Deal” morphed into Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” and welfare state. In 1966, in Ayn Rand’s magazine The Progressive, Alan Greenspan revealed the “shabby secret of the welfare state.” He revealed that the whole thing was a massive fraud, and would result in a national catastrophe.
Invariably, from the beginning these political charlatans in our nation’s capital tried to defend their blatant Ponzi scheme with lies, double talk, character assassinations, slurs, ridicule, and other dubious tactics. As long as the vast majority of hard working but naive Americans went along with the lies they were fed by their “representatives” on Capital Hill in Washington, things seemed to work. Over the years, however, various congressmen and senators attempted to warn the American people about the fiscal insanity of the welfare state, massive deficit spending, and about the inevitability of the “chickens coming home to roost.”They, of course, received the usual “treatment.” Their warnings were ignored.
Then, in 2007 swarms of those “chickens” began to descend on Washington, DC, and hundreds of cities and towns across the nation. Those swarms have been multiplying ever since. As Greenspan warned 44 years ago, deficit spending has proven to be “a scheme for the confiscation of wealth.” It is an “insidious process... The welfare state requires that there be there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves.” The Establishment elitists, and their willing minions in politics, economics, and the media have thus moved our once great nation closer than ever to becoming the “feudal” society predicted by Dr. Carroll Quigley in Tragedy and Hope, p.324. The plan calls for the population to be “controlled within very narrow alternatives by the fact that he will be numbered from birth and followed, as a number, through his educational training, his required military or other public service, his tax contributions, his health and medical requirements, and his final retirement and death benefits” (p.866).
Regardless of all the pious cant to the contrary, that is the elitists’ bottom line. If those facts are used as alleged “evidence” of paranoia and a delusional state of mind, that’s a personal problem for the accusers. Truth is Truth. Facts are Facts. “Am I therefor become your enemy, because I tell the truth?” (Galatians 4:16)
Now, back briefly to our Assistant Professor friend. Here was our response to his request for an interview: “Thanks for your e-mail.... Frankly, I prefer to let the full body of my work (from 1976-2009) stand on its own merits — or lack thereof! I fail to see how any constructive purpose would be served by our having a ‘talk.’ The only truly relevant question that needs to be addressed is: Is what I have written over the last 33 years (six book and scores of articles) factually and historically correct? Or is it a mindless hodge-podge of irrelevancies? Personally, I try to very carefully ‘do my homework,’ and — like TV’s famous Dragnet character, Sgt. Friday — report ‘just the facts, just the facts’ as they unfold from the pages of history.
“As virtually everything I have written is available on or through the Emissary Publications website, what I believe — and why — should be abundantly clear. Unless proven to be in error, I stand by what I have written. When shown to be in error I change..
“In writing your article for Psychology Today, I trust you will refrain from a tactic used by many: smear. Some time ago I came across a statement I believe sums up what I am attempting to convey. ‘Those who deem it necessary to smear betray a fundamental weakness in [their] character, an insecurity and lack of confidence in [their] ability to intellectually defend [their] position. Smear is a weak man’s excuse. It is an asinine form of emotional catharsis but an extremely poor substitute for rational, reasonable dialog and debate...
“ I wish you every success in the writing of your article... Thanks again for contacting us. Best wishes, Des Griffin”
This basically sums it up for February, 2010. Let’s keep on keeping on spreading the Truth. Develop those “jungle eyes” that will help you detect and avoid many of the stumbling blocks and pitfalls along the path of life. And never forget that we are involved in a spiritual battle. That war cannot be won on a physical level. Only the Creator God has the spiritual power and authority to “take care of” our enemies. He will do just that, in his own good time ... and to his eternal glory. Hang in there.

We have now been publishing this AlertNews letter for almost three years. Our sole objective has always been to help our readers understand more perfectly what is happening in — and to — our once great nation. Looking back over those 34 AlertNewsletters, we believe we have more than adequately fulfilled our declared purpose. Due to our willingness to tell the truth, rather than being “politically correct,” our ongoing assessment of events has been right on target. We believe TRUTH stands on it own. As it is TRUTH, it doesn’t need crutches, or a “defender.” It only needs investigation.
Des Griffin donates a considerable amount of personal time to the researching and writing of these AlertNewsletters. If you appreciate his efforts, please seriously consider financially supporting our efforts to get the truth out and into the hands of others. Thanks!
